THE FRAGRANCES FROM THE EXCLUSIVE RANGE ARE ONLY AVAILABLE:
in person in PARIS, at the SALONS DU PALAIS ROYAL SHISEIDO
by mail order in certain EUROPEAN COUNTRIES
They are available in 75ml (2.5 fl oz) bell-shaped splash bottles, commonly referred to as 'bell jars'.
THERE ARE NO LIQUID SAMPLES FOR ANY OF THE EXCLUSIVES (except for those that are also in the Export Range).
Lots of rumours are constantly flying around about Serge Lutens fragrances. The latest – started by an anonymous sales assistant somewhere – is that the Exclusives will soon be available worldwide. Believe it when you see it!
If you have friends in any of the European countries you can ask them to order fragrances from the Exclusive range for you from the Salons du Palais Royal (by mail or through their website) and then forward them to you. That is perfectly feasible. You can also order the fragrances yourself through the website and give your European friends' address as the delivery address (as if it was a gift for them); they can then forward the package to you as above. It's a better option in so far as you only have to refund them the cost of posting the package to you. However, your friends won't be able to insure the package when they mail it to you (since they wouldn't be able to produce the bill proving the value of said package).
FYI, the package weighs 740g.
You could also try eBay, but prices will probably be higher because sellers have to factor in eBay and PayPal fees (which can be huge).
You can always send for the PETIT LIVRE DES PARFUMS, which is a delightful collection of five folders containing small wax samples (i.e. solid perfume that you can use on your skin) of most of the Exclusive fragrances, plus a booklet with detailed, poetic descriptions of those scents. The Petit Livre is FREE and all you have to do is to send your name and address and a nice note (in French or English) to: Les Salons du Palais Royal Shiseido 142 Galerie de Valois 25 rue de Valois 75001 Paris France or by phone: Tel: 33 (0) 1 49 27 09 09 (Dial 011 33 and then the rest of the number without the 0 after the country code)
You will receive a small, fat envelope smelling absolutely wonderful from the mixture of different fragrances. It's beautifully produced, very refined and a joy to possess. Solid perfume isn't quite like the real thing, but it'll give you a good idea of what to expect.
If, while in Paris, you want to call at the Salons du Palais Royal Shiseido, the boutique is open Mon–Sat 10am–7pm. Be aware you cannot access it from Rue de Valois: the entrance is in the gardens.
